Tampa Indie Author Book Convention!

Ooh this would be fun!

Author Kyle Perkins

So, I have been looking for indie book conventions, festivals, signings, and whatever else that can get an author our their among their fans in the Tampa area for a while now. I have found a couple but they are booked way in advance and are very genre specific. I wanted to find one that encompassed all genres from all authors. So, I decided to start one.

Virginia Johnson and I are working on a few ideas, and trying to see if we could get some interest from either indie authors in the area, or abroad. If we get enough interest, we’d make a site for it, find a venue, hotels, transportation, and whatever else anyone needs. We just need to know who among you would like to take a trip down to Tampa, Florida in 2017. =)

If you’re interested, please fill out this form here.

Bizarre Interviews with Kyle Perkins-Week 5.

Author Kyle Perkins

By Kyle Perkins.

Okay, so this week I am interviewing my first male author, which of course will make things a bit interesting. Hope you guys enjoy Aaron Speer!
I updated the format a bit to make it look a little cleaner. =)

Question 1: So, being you are my first male author, I see a lot of women are constantly complaining about receiving random cock pics in their inbox, how many random vag and tit shots do you get?

Unfortunately I am in the boring category, being that I get no vag and tit shots. Perhaps I’m not good looking enough? It’s quite a blow to the ego. What I DO get, daily, is friend requests from women with few or no mutual friends. These people will wait a few hours, or a day then start up conversations. A few have requested cyber sex after (supposedly) reading my books…

Bizarre Interviews with Kyle Perkins-Special “I missed a week” edition.

Author Kyle Perkins

by Kyle Perkins.

So, I missed a week a couple weeks ago, so this is a special one that I am plugging in before my bizarre interview with Aaron Speer on Sunday. Hope you guys enjoy!
This week we have J.N. Chaney!

Question 1: So, what kind of stuff do you write?
Science fiction mostly. My current series is dystopian.
Question 2: I love dystopian. What’s your favorite book? Also, which of your books do you dislike the most, if you had to choose. Gun to head.
My favorite book is Ender’s Game, which I have read many times since I first picked it up over fifteen years ago. Out of all my books, I’d say my least favorite is my collection of short stories. I prefer writing novels, so those were a challenge.
Question 3: So, are you married?
No, I’m living the good old bachelor life. I don’t…

Bizarre Interviews with Kyle Perkins-Week 4.

Author Kyle Perkins

By Kyle Perkins.

Sorry for the delay, guys! Today’s interview is with Melissa Robitille. I got a week behind, but all is well again. Let’s jump right in.

Question 1: So, who are you? What do you write?

I’m Melissa Robitille, author, editor, book interior designer, book cover designer… workaholic. I write urban fantasy, science fiction, horror, and paranormal romance.

Question 2: Book interior designer? What in the fuck is that?

I make the inside of your print book (and ebook) look pretty. That’s usually page numbering, making sure the chapter headings look nice, making sure you don’t have weird extra spaces at the top or bottom of the page, etc. If you’ve ever seen a book with chapters that start with a large drop cap, a book interior designer did that.

Question 3: Well, well. Fancy. Now we know you on surface value, let’s get into the hard…

Congrats, Jolene!

Author Kyle Perkins

Week 8 Writing Prompt Winner!!!

Prompt: One second you’re in your house, the next you’re standing in a living room surrounded by three demons. They drop their Ouija board and scream as they run to their bathroom and lock the door. “I told you we shouldn’t have touched it!”

Winner!!! by Jo Huber

After working a ten hour day cutting up dead animals, the first thing I want to do when I get home is take a shower. I think of that hot house wife was in today again she likes to come in to shake her tits at me. With the hot water falling down over me, I soaped up. Reaching down I grabbed my dick and started stroking it. I have had many women over the years complain that I am too big and it hurts them. I started to feel my orgasm coming on. I was so…

Why fighting book piracy is just time wasted.

I agree. Do what you can to protect your work, but make the most of the cards that are dealt to you.

Author Kyle Perkins

by Kyle Perkins.

Not saying that I condone book piracy, or piracy of any kind, but trying to defeat piracy is a pointless and time consuming venture that will only end in pain. Don’t believe me? Click here. Here.Here.Or here.

The way that torrents work, is when someone creates a torrent, they announce it and use public trackers, meaning anyone can recreate the torrent and put it on hundreds of sites. A lot of it is automatic, meaning as soon as a torrent is uploaded, many sites automatically recreate the torrent for distribution on their site. That’s with only ONE tracker. Most people use dozens of trackers when they upload a torrent, so everything I just said multiplied.

To make matters worse, most of these sites are hosted in countries where piracy isn’t illegal, and you have absolutely no recourse. Some sites may remove your copyrighted files…

Writing Prompt: Week 7. #specfic

by Kyle Perkins

Writing Prompt – Week 7: After receiving a new laptop as a gift from a person who chose to remain anonymous, you find a folder named ‘Video Logs’ in the ‘Recents’ folder. It contains video logs of yourself, but you don’t remember doing them… and the last one is pretty disturbing.

WINNER!!! By Angela Lovelace

It was not strange for me to get anonymous “gifts.” I was not the kind of person people wanted on their payroll. I was a house flipper, houses could be sold for a profit when I was done.

I scared the ghosts away. Maybe I didn’t scare them, more like I annoyed them into using up all their energy so the Veil could take them.

Thumps didn’t bother me. Banshee wails or the throaty “get out!”? I’d just blast Skrillex and usually the ghost wore out before the dup step did…
